Volleyball districts start on Oct. 16

The Bradford, Keystone Heights and Union County high school volleyball teams begin play in their respective district tournaments this week, with the Tornadoes and the Tigers being top-three seeds.

Bradford, the number-three seed in the six-team District 3-3A, hosts sixth seed Taylor County (7-11) on Monday, Oct. 16, at 6 p.m. If the Tornadoes (5-10) win, they’ll host second seed Interlachen in a semifinal match on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at a time to be determined.

The other District 3-3A semifinal match (between top seed P.K. Yonge and either fourth seed Crescent City or fifth seed Palatka) and the championship match, which will be played Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., will be played at BHS as well.

Union (10-11) is the second seed in the five-team District 6-1A tournament, with all matches being played at Branford High School. The Tigers will play a semifinal match against third seed Bell (15-10) on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. If they win, the Tigers will play for the championship on Thursday, Oct. 19, against either top seed Branford, fourth seed Lafayette or fifth seed Fort White at 7 p.m.

Keystone (3-17) is the fourth seed in the four-team District 4-4A tournament and will play top seed Bishop Kenny in a semifinal match on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. If the Indians win, they’ll play for the championship on Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. at either second seed Bolles or at third seed Wolfson.
