Thank you veterans and volunteers

Dear Editor:

Tears fill my eyes as I drive down Highway 121 in Lake Butler and see the rows of crosses with flags honoring our veterans. This year, I added my four brothers and was so proud to see their names on those crosses.

A small town like Lake Butler is unique in that they seem to always see and remember the good in people and are ready to acknowledge that good and extend the hand to all those who need an encouragement. I’m proud to live in such a community.

These heroes have fought for our freedom, both here and on foreign shores, but real freedom and peace come when we remember to stand for the flag and what it stands for and to kneel at the cross and what it stands for.

Many thanks to the volunteers who put together these crosses and flags and put them away till next time. God bless!
