Dear Editor:
I attended the Memorial Day ceremonies at our Veterans Park and learned something awful. The Starke city commissioners want to uproot this beautiful memorial and set it down on a residential street where it will hardly be seen. Are they insane?
This memorial area is witness to all the sacrifices made by our soldiers over all of the wars and skirmishes of this country’s existence and is a reminder to all of us. And the city commissioners want to get rid of it so they can make a little money on the site. Any caring person should be appalled at the very thought of this happening. If you have any concern at all for the future of this city and county, I certainly hope that you let them know.
