BHS grads play huge roles in FSCJ double-header victories

Takeirra Bakken and Masey Padgett, who are 2023 Bradford High School graduates, came up big for the Florida State College at Jacksonville softball team in two wins over South Georgia State on Feb. 13.

In a 13-0 win, Padgett went 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBI, while Bakken was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

It was Bakken who got five RBI in the team’s 15-6 win over South Georgia State. She went 2 for 4 with a home run, while Padgett went 3 for 5 with two doubles and three RBI.

Prior to Feb. 27, Padgett led the team in RBI with 13, while Bakken was third with 11. Both were tied for fourth in doubles with four each.

Some highlights since the Feb. 13 double-header include Bakken and Padgett driving in three and two runs, respectively, in an 8-4 win over Seminole on Feb. 20 and Bakken going 2 for 4 with two doubles in a 9-3 loss to Pasco-Hernando on Feb. 24.

FSCJ has a home game on Thursday, Feb. 29, against St. Johns River at 2 p.m. The team then plays at St. Johns River on Friday, March 1, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
