Union JROTC wins 9-school competition – Defending State Champs host Raider meet

The Union County High School JROTC Raider Team hosted a Raider Meet on Saturday, September 14th.

Nine schools competed in the competition, all from the Northeast Florida region.

The UCHS JROTC Raider Team, which won the State Championship last year, finished First Overall for the Male-Mix category.

The team won four of the five events and won second place in one event.

The list of events with the UCHS JROTC team’s placement are: 3-mile Relay Run (2nd) For this event, eight of the team members complete one 1/4 mile lap, and two of the team members complete two laps;

Cross-Country Rescue (1st) This is a 3/4 mile run that included obstacles, and the team had to carry a weighted litter and four rucksacks;

Raider Fitness Test (1st) This is an ammo can relay where each cadet has to transport six 25-30lb ammo cans 25 yards;

Raider Fitness Challenge (1st) This is an obstacle course that includes a low crawl, carrying a variety of weighted objects 40 yards, going over an obstacle, a zig-zag maze, and a team carry of a heavy object for 50 feet, then the team has to reverse course – finishing with the low crawl;

One Rope Bridge (1st) For this event, the team has to construct, navigate across a 60′ span, and deconstruct a one-rope bridge.
