UCHS, BHS have a combined 12 receive at-large region bids

Union County High School had nine receive at-large bids to the Region 2-1A boys weightlifting finals, which will be held Friday, April 7, at 10 a.m. at Suwannee High School.

Bradford High School had three earn at-large berths.

The Tigers will have a total of 10 competing, with Christian Simmons automatically qualifying by being the champion of the 129-pound class in both the Olympic and traditional events at the March 29 District 7 meet.

Union lifters who received at-large bids in the traditional competition, with their district placement in parentheses, were Wyatt Elixson (sixth) in the 139 class, Rodney Barnett (third) in the 154 class, Brycen Boney (fourth) in the 169 class, Clifton Ivey (fourth) in the 183 class, Thomas Williams (third) and Jimmy Cox (seventh) in the 199 class, Maddox Wheeler (fourth) and Erich Seager (fifth) in the 219 class and Connor Bresee (fourth) in the 238 class.

The Tornadoes’ at-large qualifiers in the traditional competition, with their district placement in parentheses, were Chason Clark (fourth) and Reese Wainwright (ninth) in the 199 class and Cayden Carter (sixth) in the 238 class.
