Tigers to play for district volleyball title

Union County High School’s volleyball team will play for its district championship after knocking off the second-ranked team in the Florida High School Athletic Association/MaxPreps Rural Class power rankings.

The third seed Tigers defeated second seed Lafayette 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 29-27, 25-12) in the semifinals of the District 6-Rural tournament on Oct. 15. Union (16-8) will play either top seed Branford (22-3) or fourth seed Dixie County (11-12) for the championship on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at Dixie County.

Union is the seventh-ranked team in the Rural Class. Branford is number one, while Dixie is 12th.
