Union County High School’s Auntrell Ross qualified for the Class 2A track and field finals after his performance in the long jump at the May 3 Region 1 meet.
His best distance of 21-9, which occurred on the second of his four attempts, earned him sixth place at the Region 1 meet. Ross goes into the state finals as the 16th seed in the 18-member field.
The state finals will be held Thursday, May 18, at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. The boys long jump will start at 2:30 p.m.
