Rodney Barnett, Union County High School’s lone qualifier, went 0-2 in the 144-pound class at the Class 1A state finals on Feb. 29 in Kissimmee.
The day for Barnett (22-10) began with a 9-5 loss to LaBelle’s Devon Jackson, who would go on to place seventh. He then lost 10-6 to Cocoa Beach’s Kealan Sieni.
Barnett qualified for state after finishing as the runner-up in his class at the previous week’s Region 1 meet. Fernandina Beach’s Cole Miscianga, who defeated him for the Region 1 title, wrestled his way to a fourth-place finish at state.
