Season ends for Union’s Elixson and KHHS team at regionals

The girls golf season came to an end for Union County High School’s Zoe Elixson and the Keystone Heights team at the Region 1-1A finals, which were held Oct. 30 at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.

Elixson finished in a two-way tie for 44th with a score of 114. She made par on one hole.

Keystone placed 10th out of 10 teams with a score of 594. The Indians were led by Aubrey Brooks and Amber Cunningham, who each shot a 140 and finished in a three-way tie for 44th out of 60 players. Jasmine Walls and Ashlynn Duncan shot scores of 150 and 164, respectively.

Bolles and Episcopal, who finished with scores of 314 and 316, respectively, earned automatic berths to state by being the top two teams.

The top two individuals not on the top two teams also automatically qualified: Pensacola Catholic’s Islay Benoit, who shot a 71 to finish as the low-score medalist, and Maclay’s Ellie Riner, who was second overall with a score of 73.
