Ryder Detweiler receives top award in Very Berry Bakeoff

Ryder Detweiler received the best-overall award in this year’s Bradford 4-H Very Berry Bakeoff, which was held March 1.

Detweiler was one of four participants in the Intermediate division, earning first place with his chocolate-covered butter creams.

Kierstyn McKenzie and Nicholas Ward earned second and third place, respectively, in the Intermediate division and received blue ribbons. McKenzie entered strawberry shortcake cupcakes, while Ward entered a strawberry cream pie.

A’miriyan Glover earned a red ribbon and fourth place in Intermediate with a strawberry Bundt cake.

The Senior division consisted of two participants, with Kaitlyn McKenzie earning first place for strawberry shortcake cookies. Natalie Thames received a blue ribbon and second place for a strawberry cheesecake.

Shawn Ward was the lone participant in the Junior division. He entered strawberry thumbprint cookies.
