Obituaries — Sept. 17, 2024

Kimberly Alsabrook-Scramm

Kimberly Diane Alsabrook-Scramm, 52, was a resident of Keystone Heights for most of her life.  Born in Columbus, Georgia on Sept. 25, 1971, she passed away with her family by her side in Gainesville, on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024. Kim was hospitalized for several years, battling a long-term illness. Known throughout the community as a humanitarian with a giant heart for animals, she opened a pet rescue called “Last Chance Renegades at Schramm Farms” in 2010.  She believed every stray or abandoned creature, regardless of breed, deserved a fighting chance. From feral raccoons to house cats, her home was open to all that needed healing. Kim created a popular Facebook series called “Farm Notes,” which included tips on animal husbandry and championed local rescue shelters.  Fans already miss her wild stories of Simon the foul-mouthed African Grey and daily laughing- goat pictures. But most of all, Kim is missed for her wild personality and generous heart.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Dale Schramm; son, Kolton Levi Alsabrook; parents, Kenneth Douglas Alsabrook Sr. and Barbara Gunter Alsabrook; two siblings, Tonya Alsabrook (William Kenneth) Gibbs, Kenneth Douglas (Elaine Lynn) Alsabrook II, Tracy Samson (married to Steve Greer); and the following nieces and nephews (listed in age order), Brittany Gibbs (Scott Brian) Frew, and their two children, Greyson Kenneth Frew and Cora Elizabeth Frew, Kenneth Brighton (Torri Dawn)  Gibbs, Jacob (Holly) Shearsby, and their children, Sara Greer and Analise Greer,  Kenneth Douglas Alsabrook III, and Hayden Cooper Alsabrook.

There will be an opportunity to visit with the family at Kenny and Elaine’s home, 6794 Little Rain Lake Road, Keystone Heights 32656, on Friday, Sept. 20, from   6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
