Willie Coley

In loving memory of Willie “Biz” Coley Jr., 55, who passed away Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Jan. 10, 1987. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Coley.

He is survived by Emestine Coley, his wife of 28 years; his son, Aaron Coley; his mother, Barbara Coley; his sister, Charlotte Coley: his aunt, Barbara (Johnny) Peoples; uncle, Clifford (deceased) (Rosa Lee) Coley; aunt, Arma Jean (Ted) (deceased) Adderly; mother-in-law, Louise Jones; sister-in-law, Toni (James) Jones-Cherry; sister-in-law Quintana Jones; brother-in-law, Ernest (Rashall) Jones; special friend,  Randy (Melinda) Hugger; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and memorable friends who are also family.

A Zoom service was held on Saturday, Oct. 15.

Catherine Hadley

Catherine Anita “Nita” Hadley transitioned from this life unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, at HCA Orange Park Medical Center. She was born July 3, 1958, grew up in Lake Butler and was educated in the Union County school system, graduating from Union County High School with the class of 1975. In the early ‘90s, her family moved to Jacksonville, where she resided until her demise. She was athletic, energetic, and was the life of any party.  She loved dancing, playing bingo, and, above all else, she loved her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Cora Jackson Grayson and Clarence Griffin Sr.; daughter, Sabrina Hadley; paternal grandparents, Louis and Catherine Griffin; maternal grandparents, Sam and Ethel Jackson; sister, Jacqueline Griffin; aunts, Evelyn Small, Sadie Dillard, and Lucille Hadley; and uncle, Samuel Jackson Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of 47 years, Clark Hadley; daughters, Labrina Hadley and Katrina Hadley, both of Jacksonville; son, Clark Levon (Amber) Hadley of Cement, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Breonna Asbury, Mikayla Hadley, and Hayezlee Hadley; sisters, Joyce (Walter) Chambers of Orlando, Cassandra (Tyrone)  Bones of Lake Butler, Gloria (Alonzo Sr.) Stewart of, Starke, Juanita Ringgold of Gainesville and Herina Felice (Kyler) Cohen of Lake Butler; brothers, Clarence (Patricia) Griffin Jr., Lorenza (Sharon) Griffin, Lonnie Griffin Sr. and Christopher Griffin, all of Lake Butler; uncles, Eddie (Cora)  Jackson and Grady Jackson; along with hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends whom she deeply loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Union County High School auditorium, 1000 S.  Lake Ave., Lake Butler, with Rev. Jewel Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Call Cemetery in Lake Butler. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at Greater Elizabeth Baptist Church, 780 S.W. Third St., Lake Butler.

James Moore Jr.

James Moore Jr.

James William Moore, Jr. passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at the age of 75. Diagnosed almost one year ago today with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, he fought bravely through this horrible disease while rarely complaining. He was born on May 12, 1947, in Jacksonville, to the late James William and Dorothy Mae (Prewitt) Moore, Sr. He was in the class of 1965 at Englewood High School in Jacksonville, and he attended FSU for one year. He started playing the trumpet in the eighth grade and continued through his high school years. In the latter part of the ‘60s, he played trumpet in a band called Mouse The Boys & Brass. They played many venues in both Florida and Georgia. He started his almost 35-year career as a switchman with Southern Bell in Jacksonville, which led him to being promoted to marketing, where he then worked with AT&T in Jacksonville before finishing his career as a systems designer with Bellsouth in Gainesville. Following his retirement, he enjoyed learning how to play golf. He also helped to arrange and play trumpet in two reunion concerts (2003 and 2005) for Mouse The Boys & Brass. He partnered with Reid Tillery to form a successful LLC called Cost Checks, a telecommunications consulting and auditing business. After 16 years, he was forced to quit due to his illness. He lived in Jacksonville until 1985, when he and his family moved to Melrose. After living in Melrose for 26 years, he and his wife decided to move to Madeira Beach in 2011. Six years later, in 2017, they moved to Keystone Heights, where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Cathy Pinholster Moore; their two sons, James Aaron Moore and Brian Scott Moore: one sister, Laura Lee (Bob) Bullock; nieces, Dawn Bullock Stubblefield and Wendy Bullock McCallister; and a nephew, Mike Bullock. Other surviving family members include cousins, James H. McCarty Jr., Marilu Minnick Milstead, Bobby Minnick, George Minnick, and John Trapp.

 Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the funeral home chapel. A private interment followed at Eliam Cemetery.

William Silcox

William A. “Bill” Silcox Sr., 81, of Keystone Heights died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022. He was born on July 26, 1941, to the late Elmer Jackson and Nora E. (Jeffers) Silcox.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda J. (Clark) Silcox of Keystone; their children, William A. Silcox Jr. of Orange Park and Danna Silcox Altman of Jacksonville; one brother; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at Peoria Cemetery, 142 E. Jefferson St., Doctors Inlet, 32030 on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m.

Robert Traylor

Robert (Bob) Norman Traylor, 90, peacefully passed away at his home in Lawtey on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022. He was preceded in death by Berla Griffis Traylor, his loving wife of 54 years. He was born June 8, 1932, and lived in Corpus Christi, Texas until moving to Jacksonville with his late parents, Joseph (Mac) and Rosa Belle McFarland. In Jacksonville, he joined the US Navy and met Berla. Together, they are survived by their three sons, Dean (Sally), Norman (Debbie) and Dale (Paula). This family grew to include 10 grandchildren, Michael, Morgan, Jamie, Cristie, Katelyn, Stephanie, Monica, Lindsey, Daniel, and Mark, and Bob lived on to enjoy their many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Cline Stelzig of Portland, Texas. After retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, Bob started Traylor Landscape Company and was known throughout Bradford County for more than 30 years, providing landscape, nursery and fill-dirt services. For several years, after having experienced a debilitating stroke and the loss of Berla, Bob lived a very solitary life until meeting Lillian Hall. They married and she has provided his remaining years with a loving, comforting, caring and engaging life.

A visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 20, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be on Friday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. Both will be held at the DeWitt C Jones Chapel of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home.
