Violet Forgette

Violet Louise Forgette, 100, of Starke, died Sunday, May 26, 2024, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville. 

Surviors are her children, Marvina Steadman and Daniel (Ann) Stallings; son-in-law, Mike Dyer; sister-in-law, Elnora Pinner; four grandchildren; and many extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 30, at 10 a.m. at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.

Marilyn C. “Mickey” Medlock Herring born Oct. 16, 1933, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 31, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel.

Tony Luke

Tony “Big T” Luke, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Haven Hospice Lake City after showing incredible, bravery, strength, and courage during an eight-year battle with cancer. He was born on July 20, 1970, in Starke to Gary and Faye Luke. Tony was a man who never met a stranger and his heart of gold shone through in every interaction. His warm personality endeared him to all who knew him. He had a knack for teasing his loved ones in a way that always brought laughter and joy to their lives. He graduated from Union County High School in 1988 and went straight to work. Starting his professional career at Sysco, the family business, Homes of Merit, and finally as a warehouse supervisor for US Cold Storage for 10 years. His hard- work ethic and dedication made him a valuable employee anywhere he went. Outside of work, he found solace in the great outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He embraced any activity that took him outside, camping, or near the water. He enjoyed riding his side-by-side vehicle with friends and he delighted in grilling delicious meals for his family.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 19 years, Debbie Burns Luke; his son, Cody Luke; as well as his parents, Gary and Faye Luke. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry (Robert) Shoup; nephew, Brandon (Kassie) Shoup and their children, Kennady Castleberry and Gunner Shoup; along with brother-in-law, Robb (Paula) Burns; nieces, Heather (Trevor) Touchton, Hannah Burns; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A visitation to honor his life took place on Tuesday, May 28, at Johnstown Baptist Church in Lake Butler. This was followed by a funeral service. He was laid to rest immediately following the service at Mt. Zion/Swift Creek Cemetery. Services were officiated by Carl Olin.
