Jackie Blevins Sr.

Jackie “Jack” Bernard Blevins, Sr. 76, of Keystone Heights died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness.  

He is survived by five children, Jackie Blevins Jr. of Keystone Heights, Tina Blevins O’Neal of Florahome, Teddy Blevins, Naomi Blevins, and Louie Linton all of Keystone Heights.

Dale Clyatt

Dale “Dmama” Clyatt, 85, passed away peacefully at E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville, on Saturday, June 25, 2022.  She was born in Lee County on Feb. 20, 1937, to the late Ive and Fredna Hollingsworth. Her freshman year of high school, her family moved to Union County, where, upon graduating, she married the love of her life, Glen Clyatt, on Dec. 20, 1956. The two made a wonderful life together that centered around family. She spent 29 years as a school bus driver providing transportation to the students of Union County. She enjoyed having family get-togethers, taking trips to the mountains, camping, and her grandchildren. She has been a faithful member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Glen Clyatt of Lake Butler; her children, Lanier (Carol) Clyatt of Brooker, Cindy (Stanley) O’Steen and Don Clyatt, both of Lake Butler; her grandchildren, Lindsay (Jeremy) Craft of Chipley, Jordan (Ashley) Clyatt of Tallahassee, Kerri (C.J.) Burroughs of Lake Butler, Kayla (Justin) Thomas of Gainesville, Donny (Barbara) Clyatt, Adam (Erica) Adkins, and Arica Lafferty, all of Lake Butler, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A service to honor her life was  held Wednesday, June 29, at Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. She was laid to rest immediately following the service at Elzey Chapel Cemetery. Services were officiated by Pastors Paul Davis, Bob Brown and Buddy Morris.

Curtis Childers

MELROSE Curtis James Childers, 73, of Melrose passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, in Lisbon, Portugal, while on holiday.  He was born Saturday, Nov. 20, 1948, in Tampa to Lacy and Dorothy (Ferrell) Childers.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in psychology.  Upon graduation he went to work for the Hillsborough County Health Department.  He went on to become an Environmental Specialist with the State of Florida Department of Health.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Frances Childers; four children, Jason Childers, Jessica Dunlap, Michele Cole and Richard Kovach Jr.; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild .

 A gathering of family and friends will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30 at 2 p.m. at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 N.W. 23rd Ave., Gainesville. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation (T2T.org).

STARKE Grace “Juanita” Ferguson, 91, of Starke passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Riverwood Health and Rehab in Starke. She was born on Oct. 3, 1930, in Starke to James and Mildred (Browning) Higginbotham and was a longtime area resident. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William Earl “Bill” Ferguson.

Survivors are her children, Mary Jane Henderson of Starke, Charles (Kelly) Ferguson of Arlington, Washington, Marie (Buddy) Reddish of Keystone Heights, Wayne (Janet) Ferguson of Lake Butler; grandchildren, Marona Newman, Barona Henderson, Connie Sims, Tifany (Joe) Richardson, Fiona Ferguson, Angie (Mike) Glenn, Shawn Reddish, Chad (Melissa) Reddish, Stacie Reddish, Collin Reddish, Jason (Vicky) Pons; and great- grandchildren, Jade Newman, Diamond Newman, Mike Newman, Dillon Reddish, Ethan Sims, Mason Richardson, Rosie Reddish, Clayton Reddish, Alex Reddish, Alyssa Reddish, Jacob Woriax, Aurora Castell, Bobby Brittingham, Lenox Reddish and Easton Reddish. Also left are her four great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home of Starke on Monday, June 27, with funeral services following. Interment followed at Sapp Cemetery in Raiford. Pastor Steve Conner officiated all services.

Charles Hall

Charles Dana Hall passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice in Gainesville on Saturday, June 25, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born July 19, 1974 in Gainesville to Charles and Jane Hall. He enjoyed building computers, playing his guitar, and taking care of stray animals. He will be greatly missed. He was proceeded in death by his sister, Shelley Jo Hall Gaitlin; and his nephew, Trenton Riley Hall. 

He is survived by his parents, Charles and Jane Hall of Hampton; brother, Adam (Amy) Hall of Hampton; sister, Christina Hall of Hampton; nine nieces and nephews; four great-nieces and nephews; an uncle; aunts and cousins.  

His funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 10, at Rock Primitive Baptist Church in Brooker at 3 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Kyle Lloyd and Pastor John Hodges. A celebration of his life will follow at the Fellowship hall at Rock Primitive Baptist Church. He was a champion for animals and the family is requesting donations to animal rescue in his memory in lieu of flowers.

Earnest Whitley

Earnest James Whitley, 74, of Green Cove Springs passed on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the Haven-Custead Hospice Care Center in Orange Park. He was born in Green Cove Springs and later moved to Bradford County. He attended the local schools of Bradford and Clay counties. He later moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and worked as a psychologist with the Pittsburgh school district until he later returned to Green Cove Springs. He was of the Holiness faith.

He is survived by his companion, Henrietta Frances; children, Earnest T. (Cardelia) Whitley, Shawn Cherry, Shawntaye Scott, Stephanie Scott, Marissa Parks, Shawn Givens and Rico Williams; brothers, Curtis Whitley and Anthony Whitley; sister, Dannette Whitley; a host of grandchildren; great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and many sorrowing friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, in the Peetsville Cemetery in Lawtey. Interment will be under the direction of Haile Funeral Home Inc., 802 N. Oak St., Starke, 32091 904-964-7905. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Peestville Cemetery prior to the service at 10:45 a.m. There will be no viewing.
