NOTICE OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE 2024-01

The Board of County Commissioners of Union County, Florida proposes to adopt an ordinance to designate the Union County Sheriff as the chief correctional officer of the Union County correctional system.

The public hearing on the proposed ordinance will be held during the regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners on March 18, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the Board of County Commissioners Meeting Room, Union County Courthouse, located at 55 West Main Street, Lake Butler, Florida.  The title of said ordinance reads as follows:

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF UNION COUNTY, FLORIDA DESIGNATING THE UNION COUNTY SHERIFF AS THE CHIEF CORRECTIONAL OFFICER OF THE UNION COUNTY CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 951.061, FLORIDA STATUTES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

The public hearing may be continued to one or more future dates. Any interested party shall be advised that the date, time and place of any continuation of the public hearing shall be announced during the public hearing and that no further notice concerning the matter will be published, unless said continuation exceeds six calendar weeks from the date of the above referenced public hearing.

At the aforementioned public hearing, all interested parties may appear to be heard with respect to the ordinance.

CIS Deployment.

Public notification that a Contraband Interdiction System will be deployed at the Reception and Medical Center. Those in the surrounding community should be aware there is potential for service interruptions during deployment.
