RECOMMENDED CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

  1. Violation of City of Starke Code of Ordinance, Section(s) as follows:

22-224 – CREATING, KEEPING, MAINTAINING, ALLOWING THE EXISTENCE OF DANGEROUS BUILDING OR HAZARDOUS LANDS — It shall be unlawful for any owner of real property within the city to create, keep, maintain, or allow the existence of any dangerous building or hazardous land, as defined in this article, in or on such real property.

  1. Description of Violation:

Lands at the above referenced location are hazardous lands due to excessive growth of vegetation in that:

Vegetation exceeds twelve (12) inches in height and is of a nature that may reasonably become infested by pests or create a safety hazard.

Lands at the above referenced location are hazardous lands due an accumulation of material or items stored outside of a structure in that:

Items including, but not limited to trash, abandoned personal property, junk, and unusable or discarded household items have been and remain present outside the structure at the above referenced location.

  1. Corrective Action Recommendations:

Pursuant to Ordinance Section 22-225

IT IS HEREBY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS

CUT/TRIM GRASS AND VEGETATION.  Cut and trim all vegetation within fifteen (15) calendar days following the date of this Notice such that the vegetation is not a safety hazard or susceptible to infestation by pests, and so that it does not grow into neighboring properties, public sidewalks, streets, rights-of-way, utilities easements, drainage ditches, and swales.  It is recommended that all grass be cut/trimmed to a length of four (4) inches or shorter, and that all shrubbery and bushes be cut in accordance with guidelines promulgated by the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida.

STORE, DISCARD, AND/OR REMOVE ITEMS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF STRUCTURE.  All items located on the referenced property which are not properly stored in permitted and appropriate structures on the property must be discarded, removed from the property, or properly stored in properly permitted structures on the property.

REQUESTING AN EXTENSION OF TIME AND FILING AN APPEAL

Request for Extension of Time:

For good cause shown, the City of Starke Enforcing Official may grant up to thirty (30) additional days for you to comply with recommendations to correct violations concerning hazardous lands.

If you wish to request an extension of time to correct the violations in this Notice, on or before the “Date the Violation is to be Corrected By” on Page One of this Notice, submit your request in writing to the City of Starke Enforcing Official at 209 North Thompson Street, Starke, Florida 32091.

CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE WITH RECOMMENDED CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

Within the times and before the deadlines set forth in this Notice if you do not respond to this Notice by either 1) complying with the recommended corrective actions; 2) requesting an extension of time from the Enforcing Official to comply with the recommended corrective actions; or 3) appealing the violations, recommended actions and other determinations in this Notice then the Enforcing Official may order you to comply.

DETAILS OF VIOLATION(S)  AND

RECOMMENDED CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

  1. Violation of City of Starke Code of Ordinance, Section(s) as follows:

22-224 – CREATING, KEEPING, MAINTAINING, ALLOWING THE EXISTENCE OF DANGEROUS BUILDING OR HAZARDOUS LANDS — It shall be unlawful for any owner of real property within the city to create, keep, maintain, or allow the existence of any dangerous building or hazardous land, as defined in this article, in or on such real property.

  1. Description of Violation:

Lands at the above referenced location are hazardous lands due to excessive growth of vegetation in that:

Vegetation exceeds twelve (12) inches in height and is of a nature that may reasonably become infested by pests or create a safety hazard.

Lands at the above referenced location are hazardous lands due an accumulation of material or items stored outside of a structure in that:

Items including, but not limited to trash, abandoned personal property, junk, and unusable or discarded household items have been and remain present outside the structure at the above referenced location.

  1. Corrective Action Recommendations:

Pursuant to Ordinance Section 22-225

IT IS HEREBY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS

CUT/TRIM GRASS AND VEGETATION.  Cut and trim all vegetation within fifteen (15) calendar days following the date of this Notice such that the vegetation is not a safety hazard or susceptible to infestation by pests, and so that it does not grow into neighboring properties, public sidewalks, streets, rights-of-way, utilities easements, drainage ditches, and swales.  It is recommended that all grass be cut/trimmed to a length of four (4) inches or shorter, and that all shrubbery and bushes be cut in accordance with guidelines promulgated by the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida.

STORE, DISCARD, AND/OR REMOVE ITEMS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF STRUCTURE.  All items located on the referenced property which are not properly stored in permitted and appropriate structures on the property must be discarded, removed from the property, or properly stored in properly permitted structures on the property.

REQUESTING AN EXTENSION OF TIME AND FILING AN APPEAL

Request for Extension of Time:

For good cause shown, the City of Starke Enforcing Official may grant up to thirty (30) additional days for you to comply with recommendations to correct violations concerning hazardous lands.

If you wish to request an extension of time to correct the violations in this Notice, on or before the “Date the Violation is to be Corrected By” on Page One of this Notice, submit your request in writing to the City of Starke Enforcing Official at 209 North Thompson Street, Starke, Florida 32091.
