KHHS girls shut out in soccer by 5A Middleburg

Keystone Heights High School lost for the third time in four matches, falling 6-0 to visiting Class 5A Middleburg in a Jan. 5 girls soccer match.

Goalie Xana Briley made 12 saves as the Indians fell to 7-5-1.

Keystone entered the Christmas break off a 5-2 loss to Class 6A Gainesville on Dec. 19 in Gainesville. The Indians then returned from the break with a 4-0 win at Class 2A Trenton on Jan. 4.

Kiersten Shaw scored all of Keystone’s goals against Trenton, with Kayle Buchanan, Alyssa Sanford and Schiley Starling each recording one assist. Whitnee Buchanan made six saves in goal, while Briley made two.

The Indians host Interlachen on Friday, Jan. 12, at 5 p.m. and travel to Gainesville to play Eastside on Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m.
