KHHS and UCHS earn at-large playoff berths

Keystone Heights High School earned at-large berths in the Class 3A regional baseball and softball playoffs, while Union County is the number-two seed in the 1A baseball playoffs.

Union, also an at-large qualifier, will host third seed Liberty County (16-7) in a semifinal game on Tuesday, May 7, at 7 p.m. If the Tigers (14-13) win, they’ll either host fourth seed Madison County or travel to play top seed Lafayette for the Region 3 championship on Saturday, May 11.

Keystone (20-8) is the eighth seed in the Region 1 -3A baseball playoffs and will travel to play top seed Pensacola Catholic (26-1) in a quarterfinal game on Wednesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. If the Indians win, they’ll travel to play fourth seed Bishop Snyder or fifth seed Providence in a semifinal game on Saturday, May 11.

The championship game is Tuesday, May 14. If Keystone advances that far, it would travel regardless of its opponent.

Region 1 also consists of second seed Trinity Christian, third seed Bolles, sixth seed Episcopal and seventh seed Trinity Catholic.

Keystone (12-12) is the seventh seed in the Region 1-3A softball playoffs and will travel to play second seed Episcopal (23-3) in a quarterfinal game on Wednesday, May 8, at 7 p.m. If the Indians win, they’ll travel to play third seed West Nassau or sixth seed Suwannee in a semifinal game on Tuesday, May 14.

The championship game is Friday, May 17. If Keystone advances that far, it’ll travel unless its opponent is eighth seed Palatka.

The rest of the region consists of top seed Baldwin, fourth seed North Bay Haven and fifth seed Marianna.
