Keystone Heights High School’s cross-country teams competed in the Oct. 19 New World Fall Spectacular, hosted by Bolles at Cecil Field Golf Course in Jacksonville, with Olivia Griffin earning a top-five finish and Ryder Thomas placing 11th out of a field of 400.
Griffin competed in the girls C race (runners competed in Elite, B or C divisions), running a fourth-place time of 21:37 in a field of 203.
All of Keystone’s girls runners competed in the C race, with the Indians placing fourth as a team behind Trinity Christian, Sandalwood and Rickards.
Placing in the top half of the field were Melody Tyre (18th, 23:44), Cali Chamberlain (33rd, 24:50), London Williams (53rd, 25:52), Kenslee Phillips (62nd, 26:12), Madilyn Miller (66th, 26:16) and Brook Graudons (67th, 26:16).
Also running for Keystone were Clara Beth Robinson (30:04), Raina Daniel (36:04), Madylinn Michaud (36:26) and Ava Blackburn (37:18).
Thomas competed in the boys B race, finishing with a time of 17:10. Teammate Noah Yara was also part of the large field, placing 26th with a time of 17:40.
The 217-member boys C race consisted of six Keystone runners, led by Jason Parales, who was 74th with a time of 21:20.
Three of Parales’ teammates also placed in the top half of the field: Mason Gray (91st, 22:14), Alex Mahaffey (99th, 22:27) and Adam Bell (101st, 22:31).
The Indians’ Hunter Gray (24:20) and Oliver Miller (24:47) were also part of the race.
The Indians will compete in the District 2-2A meet on Monday, Oct. 28, at Jacksonville’s Bishop Kenny High School. The girls race will start at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys race at 6:20 p.m.
