Florida Forest Service to host local Arbor Day tree-planting workshop

A free tree-planting workshop and tree drawing in recognition of Arbor Day will be held at the New River Forestry Station (11367 S.R. 100 West, Lake Butler) on Monday, Jan. 16, at noon.

The 30-minute workshop will teach you about Florida’s native trees, their historical usage, planting requirements and ecosystem benefits. Tree planting will take place at the workshop’s conclusion.

All who attend the workshop will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win a 15-gallon live oak.

You are asked to bring garden gloves (if you’re planting), water, sunscreen and children. Children 12 and under will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win a 1-gallon blueberry plant (three winners will be selected).

Registration isn’t required, but is appreciated. Visit eventbrite.com and enter “2023 Arbor Day-Free Tree Planting Workshop and Giveaway!” in the search bar.
