Clay County Commissioners approved a $819 million budget for 2024-2025, the first year after the COVID-19 Pandemic, county leaders had no significant revenues from the federal government CARES Act or American Rescue Plan, commonly known as ARPA.
During a September meeting when Assistant County Manager Troy Nagle briefed commissioners about the budget, he said the challenge of drafting the 2024-2025 spending plan was adjusting to the absence of extra federal dollars from the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“This year’s budget was a little different,” he said. “We don’t have CARES money, we don’t have ARPA money, so we’re trying to make sure we live within our means.”
