The top four finishers in each event at the District 3-2A track and field meet earned automatic berths in the Region 1 meet, but Braford, Keystone Heights and Union County high schools also had athletes receive at-large bids to the meet, which will be held Tuesday, May 7, at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
Keystone’s Ryder Thomas was an at-large qualifier in both the 1600m and 3200m. At the district meet, he was seventh in the 1600m with a time of 4:49 and eighth in the 3200m with a time of 11:17.
Brayden Smyth of Bradford was an at-large qualifier in the long jump. His distance of 18-8.5 at the district meet was good for sixth place.
Union’s Tayleya Smith qualified in the shot put after placing fifth at the district meet with a distance of 29-8.
